Happy Monday! Here are a few thoughts bouncing around in my head after a week of reading, podcasts and other continuing ed. Enjoy!
- Chase the adaptation, not the weight.
- Don’t get me wrong, I think strength can be a gamechanger for a lot of athletes and its something we are continually trying to develop. But, just because someone or a team got stronger doesn’t mean they are going to be a better team, there is a lot more to it then just loading up the bar and moving weight.
- Athletes want to be coached by people they know, people they like, and people they trust.
- Don’t be stuck doing things just because its the way things have always been done. Trap Bar Jump Squats are a perfect example when you compare them to Power Cleans. With Trap Bar Jump Squats you get the same intent (maybe more), triple extension, don’t have to rack the bar, catch in an athletic position – seems like a no-brainer yet people for some reason think they HAVE to Power Clean. We are training athletes, not weightlifters.
