Happy Monday! Here are a few thoughts bouncing around in my head after a week of reading, podcasts, cruising social media and any other continuing ed. Enjoy!
- Damian Hughes posted this quote on Twitter last week, something I thought was phenomenal. “Intelligent individuals learn from every thing and every one; average people, from their experiences. The stupid already have all the answers.” – Socrates
- This time of the year most of the sport teams that I work with are in the first few weeks of their off-season. It is the perfect time to take a step back and make sure the foundation is set through simple movement patterns done to perfection. Push ups. Chin Ups. Split Squats. Goblet Squats. All things that are simple but fundamental movements. We train the movement and get it looking the way we want it to look, then we start adding load to the movement.
- In Zach Dechant’s book he says, “The scapular stabilizers are the most important muscles for protecting the shoulder.” This is why, no matter the sport, we perform a ton of horizontal rowing.
- “There is no championship belt for what we do in the weight room.” – Charlie Weingroff
