Happy Monday! Here are a few thoughts bouncing around in my head after a week of reading, podcasts, cruising social media and any other continuing ed. Enjoy!
- It’s not about doing more things in the weight room, it’s about doing the right things. It’s easy to keep adding sets, programming more exercises, and just crushing people with more volume. What is hard is continually doing a minimal effective amount of work with basic movements consistently over a long period time. Give athletes enough of what they need and not as much as they can handle.
- Of all the things a leader should fear, complacency heads the list. – John C. Maxwell
- Ryan Horn posted a Buddy Morris quote on twitter last week that impressed upon coaches how important it is to read on a daily basis to continue to develop. I, personally, can’t overstate how much reading consistently on a daily basis has impacted me both personally and professionally.
- If you only surround yourself with those who agree with you and won’t challenge your perspective, you’ll never get better. Safe doesn’t lead to growth.
