Happy Monday! Hope everyone had a fantastic 4th of July weekend!
That being said, here are a few thoughts bouncing around in my head after a week of reading, podcasts, cruising social media and any other continuing ed. Enjoy!
- The weight-room is special because it only rewards those that work. It values tenacity over talent. It doesn’t care about star’s or playing time. It’s a sanctuary where athletes aren’t subject to scrutiny from the outside world. The weight-room is a equal opportunity equalizer. – Ryan Horn (@ryanhorn45 on Twitter).
- Eat food. Not too much. Mostly plants. – Michael Pollan. Probably a pretty good general rule to live by when it comes to nutrition.
- Unpopular opinion; most low back pain in athletes has a specific cause, and in many instances it’s the things we as strength coaches are doing with them. If we could simply eliminate certain exercises, I bet we could eliminate a lot of low back pain.
- Coaching 101: A person/athlete who feels appreciated will always do more then expected.
