Training Hockey Players

When I first got into the field of strength and conditioning years ago I was pretty raw. I didn’t know much.

But after my first internship, one where I was able to work with A LOT of hockey players, I realized a few things.

Hockey players aren’t bodybuilders.

They aren’t power lifters.

They aren’t strongman competitors.

They aren’t CrossFit athletes.

They are athletes!

Athletes that need total body strength work that requires the body to work as one functional unit.

Athletes that need strength work that doesn’t continually stress the same movement patterns that are over-stressed by the sport.

There has to be a well-thought out process to what you do with hockey players. They aren’t delicate flowers, but there do have some typical injury concerns that we as coaches need to take into consideration.

By the way, if you are looking for more information on training hockey players, I got you covered!
