In my opinion, one of the best things you can do as a strength coach is have a solid understanding of the demands of the sport you are working with.
Simple example ➡️ the sport of hockey 🏒 has a HUGE rotational component to it as you can clearly see from the photos. The act of shooting a puck asks the athlete to generate power from the ground up, from the lower body through the core and ‘out’ the arms.
If you neglect training rotational power in the off-season, which isn’t going to happen with a barbell or dumbbell in your hands, you are leaving a big chunk of performance on the table.
