Happy Monday!
I hope everyone had a great weekend!
Like every other Monday, here are a few thoughts bouncing around in my head after a week of reading, podcasts, cruising social media and any other continuing ed.
Enjoy!
- Want to know if you are a good coach? Try coaching a bunch of 12-14 year olds for a few months. You’ll find out if you are a good coach or not pretty quick.
- Training athletes? Sprint 2-3x per week. Strength train 2-3x per week. Repeat for weeks and weeks and weeks.
- Ladders aren’t going to do a heck of a lot for speed development. However, they can be a great option for warming up and moving in various planes.
- Bench pressing with a bar bothers my shoulder. So I don’t do it. I Landmine Press. I do Push Ups. I use a lot of dumbbells. And my shoulders don’t bother me at all. Point is this… Stop doing things that hurt. There are always alternative exercises you can use.
- Legit max effort sprinting might be the most beneficial thing you can do with an athlete. Yet I feel it is neglected from a lot of programs.
Have a great week!
